8 truths about Age of Conan

Norwegian Age of Conan has been widely discussed in our pages, and in many international forums. Discussions, opinions and rumors have flown wall to wall.

It is perhaps not too surprising that it happens to the greatest extent in Norway. Firstly, there are many who have invested in the company that stands behind it, Funcom, and there are also many who have purchased the game.

If we take a look at Hegnar reputation Forum (online at OBI) is at least the rumor so it stands for. A short lesetur gives the following post, usually from anonymous visitors:

- Through the forum it seems that confidence in Funcom is quite low, and the players stop like never before.

- Funcom management anxiety. We who have followed the company know that the CEO Trond Aas, and comic Gaute is simply dealing with the truth, they lie about how good the game is, they lie about why they should put the issues, they're lying about how many players they have, they remove all opportunities to check the number of players, they hold back relevant information for shareholders, but the same information is available for the North Zone that sells 4 million shares, and they censor the players that come with constructive criticism, etc. etc.

The reason for all the rumors can be so many things, and how interesting it is to you as a player - it can be the real question is about. If you have shares, you should of course follow a bit, but here is whether 10 statements and truths about Age of Conan.

1. The game has many technical errors and deficiencies

A so called MMORPG games are a kind of living organism. This means that it constantly evolves and improves. As a performer plays the biggest game on the market today, World of Warcraft, then I can simply state that the problems that Age of Conan has had has been minimal compared to Wow. In addition Funcom has been quick to come up with many updates.

2. It's a huge loss of players

There have been fewer players online in the last two weeks than normal, but there is still considerable activity. A quick check of the various guilds (for uinvidde: This is the "team" you have in the game, ie the range players to work with) shows that this is due to one of two things: Those who felt that the game was something for him ( as it always will be) and those who are on vacation (the majority). Apostasy knows nothing about before you see figures from the September / October when players all over the world again is back in front of the machines.

At the same time: There is a waiver of all the players in such games. Look at it as a curve that is initially high (at boot) then falls quite a bit and then afterwards rising. How much it will rise depends on how much recruitment is done from those who play it.

3. The game is bad

The game Age of Conan is one of the best role-playing games for adults that are made, regardless of whether it is MMORPG (ie online against others) or a regular RPG. Exactly this point is probably the most interesting for you to play and therefore I have explained it any wonder at some point. Yet it can be said as a starting point that the character as "Play magazine gave at launch, roll 6, still stands up.

4. The game is small

Some have made claims that AoC is a little game where you have to kill animals and random passers-by to get up in levels (ganking / grinding). This is a statement from those who have not taken on syvmilsstøvlene and strolled around. The undersigned are at level 40 without having done any of this, only at the time and cooperation with others in the so-called dungeons. Last night I spoke with someone who had reached level 78 in the same way. There is a lot to do, and new things have been added continually - and if you believe that Funcom is even more on the way very soon.

5. Playing against players perform poorly

One of the things that are important to many who play such games is the ability to fight with other players and achieve something by this (except the satisfaction of beating someone else). Right here is AoC rather weak right now. There is also this Funcom says they have the biggest updates (except the new content). If they keep their promises that site will be on a par with much else, but so far it's really just pure fighting in progress. In and of itself funny enough for many, but what is to come are separate XP (Experience Points) and the ability to obtain additional new things in games. Several other systems on what is known as PVP is also on the way (including a Fugitive system). You must then choose to believe that Funcom says they do come, and according to what they say it looks good.

6. The game lacks a story

This is possibly the funniest of all. AoC has a very good story, and many small good stories in this. The people behind have managed to give the game's soul, and it is impressive.

7. Many complaints about the game when they play

The definition of many is interesting. There are always some who writes that another game is better, but they will generally answer a bunch of others that they ask to stop complaining. (The normal answer is: Stop playing this game if you're not old enough). There is also a good point in itself: AoC is a game for adults.

8. Little to do when you reach Level 80   eve isk

This is an area that is interesting. Especially since AoC has several mechanisms in them that makes you have more to do on these levels than in other games. Although I have not been there yet, but have talked with some people who've been there. Basically says that some of these areas is not quite OK as it is now, but know that it will be good (including the ability to attack other cities, etc.). It is also here that Funcom is working on several new areas and dungeons.

If you are an investor then you should of course check the financial figures, but also look at mechanisms to other similar games.

Are you a player who is considering whether to a) test or b) try again then my answer is quite simple: It should.
