EVE Online 40,000 dollar together for Japan

Who says MMO players are not concerned with real life? CCP, the developer, publisher and operator of the MMO EVE Online, announced today that together, with the gifts of his players, 40607.50 dollars for the Japan Red Cross.

The operation lasted two weeks and went through their system PLEX, Drivers License Extension. This is an item in game that extends the 30 day game time credited to an account of EVE Online. Players can not give hard cash and were encouraged to buy their spending PLEX ISK (the game currency), to give them to a support fund. CCP destroyed then PLEX return to their true value in money (subscription time, whatever) to the Red Cross.

The system was proven during the earthquake disaster in Haiti and floods in Pakistan, with respectively 40,000 and $ 20,000 previously raised.

So it PLEX 2549, to 17.5 dollars apiece, which were donated by the players this time. A total donation system has already allowed the harvest, all aid operations combined, of 108,000 dollars (about 76,000 euros).
