In Dev-blog on EVE Online, there would be the reminder that, from the 5th April 2011 older graphics cards, which are still using the shader model 2.0, no longer supported.
Back in October last year announced the developers of Eve Online, that older graphics cards, which are still based on the shader model 2.0, in the foreseeable future could no longer support. From the 5 April 2011 occurs this fall. The outdated technology continue to support, would mean one hand, a considerable extra burden on the graphics team and also prevent Eve Online working to develop its full graphic glory. For these reasons, the minimum system requirements are now on the shader model 3.0. Older cards would not be blocked or the like, however, and could work for a certain period of time.
According to estimates from the developers of Eve Online will also have about 9,000 players of the sci-fi MMOs on an outdated shader 2.0 graphics card. To facilitate these users to switch to a current graphics card model, CCP is now trying to cut a deal with a graphics card makers to draw on land and to offer reduced priced hardware. Details on this will follow in the coming weeks. The developer diary about the graphics requirements of Eve Online is here. Recently, there are way too free character redesigns in EVE Online.
